L-Carnosine (DBBM-BSM02305)

Fig. 1 Structure

L-Carnosine, a dipeptide molecule composed of beta-alanine and L-histidine, is found in high concentrations in vertebrate brain and skeletal muscle tissue.

Product Features
INCI Name: L-Carnosine
CAS: 305-84-0
Molecular Formula: C9H14N4O3
Molecular Weight: 226.2
Appearance: White to off-white powder

Mechanism

L-Carnosine inhibits the formation of AGEs, the oxidative end-products of sugar, and its structure resembles the site of protein glycosylation, making it a good target for glycosylation. By sacrificing itself to prevent protein glycosylation, myostatin neutralizes carbonyl groups attacking cell membrane proteins, thus preventing proteins from receiving cross-linking damage.
